MT. PLEASANT, S.C. -- Harris Teeter has opened its newest grocery store within Rivertowne Place in Mount Pleasant. The 55,000-square-foot location is the chain's newest prototype, which puts an emphasis on sustainability. Rivertowne Place itself is currently registered for LEED certification. Additional tenants at the center are scheduled to open at the center. They include O'Brion's Pub & Grille, Rivertowne Spirits and Julius Alterations & Cleaners. Occupancy is currently approximately 98 percent for the 62,500-square-foot center. The developer of Rivertowne Place is Greenville, S.C.-based Fox Capital Partners.

Tom Fox was the guest speaker at a ULI South Carolina breakfast meeting held at Coffee Underground in Greenville, SC on June 25, 2009. He spoke to the Upstate Young Leaders Group (a group of Young Leaders under the age of 35 who are all members of Urban Land Institute) about “green” development and his company’s Rivertowne Place Shopping Center - a Harris Teeter anchored development in Mt. Pleasant, SC and the first LEED registered shopping center in the state.
On August 18, 2009 Tom also spoke to the brokers at NAI Earle Furman in Greenville, SC at a breakfast meeting and shared with them his experiences about “green” development, his company’s Rivertowne Place project, and “green” building issues.
